Did you have to eat the members of your party or members from other parties?

Really nice older fellow who was happy to talk with me about it.

I’m sure he was. I was at an air show in Abilene a few years ago, taking photos of a very nice V-tail Beechcraft . He started talking to me, maybe because not many people were stooping to look. And he talked, and talked, and talked. Nice guy.

Nice pics. I like those conversations where you don't need to be an expert, just genuinely interested.

I wish the new Bronco had that exact shade of non-metallic orange.

The guy who owned this one said you can't even order one of the new Broncos now because they've all been snapped up.

Well nobody can order the new ones because the order banks aren’t open but ... yeah the First Edition (originally limited to 3500 but they over-allocated or something so now limited to 7000) reservations ran out pretty fast. But all the other models you can still reserve. But if you reserve one today you’re not getting Bronco for a couple of years I’d bet.

I lived there until 2012. Great mountain biking for sure, but I prefer red riding my Yamaha @ the Foresthill OHV Park.

Great driving and motorcycle roads too. My favorite loop leaving Auburn, heading north on Hwy 49, through Downieville and all the to Hwy 89. Take Hwy 89 to Hwy 267 to the north side of Lake Tahoe and hang out at Kings Beach.

After a little R&R, I would take Hwy 28 to Hwy 89 along the west side of Tahoe. Catch Hwy 50 west after going through South Lake Tahoe, and connect with Hwy 49 in Placerville. North on Hwy 49 through Coloma and Cool, back to Auburn.

Sometime I would do this 3 times in a week, skipping out of work at noon when the boss was away, but usually once a week. Weather permitting.

I lived in Sacramento from 1998 to 2012. Coming from Montana sac was hard to take but we found the spots and did a ton of bicycle ridding in the foot hills and in Tahoe .

Lots of great mountain biking up there. My boss and his kid were fanatics, always had to have the latest Santa Cruz and all the trick gear. If there was a new fork, shock, brake system..... you name it, they got it. Some of the other guys at work were regulars, not hardcore like them.

I had a Bianchi road bike, and I was content with that. I was averaging 150- 200 miles a week on that, until it was stolen.....

If I was going to live close to Sac, I think Davis would be my choice. I went to a few 4th of July Criteriums there. I liked their downtown, and it is a cycling Mecca.

I raced for the Sacramento golden wheelmen while I was there. Never got past a cat 4. It was fun and I made a lot of friends, I did a lot of crits, a few road races but I don’t climb fast enough to have fun at most road races. I also did the Sac CX series and prairie city race series.

How soon do you think you could walk into a showroom and buy one?

Kinja'd!!! UserNotFound > Rusty Vandura - www.tinyurl.com/keepoppo

Hopefully we’ll know better by the end of this year but my understanding is that they will be building reserved models first, then dealer allocations. So your first chance to get one from a showroom is getting a model that somebody reserved and ordered but decided at the last minute not to buy. How long it takes them to build the reserved models is dependent on a lot of things. Also Job 1 was going to be December I think but it may be early 2021 now?

I’m going to spitball here and say the “walk in to the showroom and buy one” option won’t exist until December 2021 at the absolutely earliest, and might not be until mid-2022.

But I could be wrong. I reserved one (two, actually ... long story ... but I’ll only be buying one) the moment the system went online so hopefully we can get ours some time next fall. We’ll see.

Do you get to choose any options? If I ordered one it would be a base model with the subdued steel rims. Mine would look like the one I just posted, but with grocery-getting wheels and tires. I’d drive it the occasional 4WD-required “jeep trail,” but no Rubicon action for me. Maybe tow my tent trailer out onto a medium-squishy beach.

Right now it’s just reservations for model and door count. They say the build & price configurator will be online in next month (August). I think you’ll have the full options available when it’s time to convert reservations to orders (options will vary by model - for example First Edition will likely be limited in options because they’re essentially a “first article” ... but it’s fully loaded anyway ).

Right now it’s looking like the Base model will be VERY limited in options as well because Ford is selling it as a bare bones model for immediate customization. We’ll see how that pans out, I guess. It’ll probably still get all the Ford Performance/Parts options.

I have been a spectator at many races and worked the feed zone but I nev er rac ed. My boss’ kid took up road bikes to train during the mountain bike off season. He started off on a junior team, n ext thing you know, he turns semi- pro riding for the Safeway team. Some days I would pace him on my motorcycle, usually with a cooler on the back carrying his drink bottles. I went to most of his California races. He could ride circles around me, and literally did that sometimes. One day on Newcastle Rd, he must have gone up and down the hill 3 times before I even made it to the top once . Each time, he would come back down and ride circles around me and give me encouragement and/ or harass me.
